Abstract:
The amount of students with special needs has increased in vocational schools. Approximately 7 % of vocational students are
defined as special need students. A study was carried out on a student from an agricultural training programme, who had wide
learning difficulties already at comprehensive school. The cause of his learning difficulties was dyslexia and narrow short-time
memory. Learning difficulties are often inborn and may be caused by a neurological disease or injury, psychosocial problems,
inadequate knowledge of a language or problems with reading and writing. Learning difficulties can be categorized into problems
with observing, motor coordination, memory, linguistic functions or attentiveness. A person with dyslexia can not make out what he
is reading or does not understand the structures of sentences.

The vocational school made a personal plan of organizing the teaching for this student. In this plan they agreed on supported
subjects, objectives of studies, individualized of studies if needed and learning by doing. In this vocational school, shortsighted
operations and inexperience in simultaneous teaching turned out to be the major problems of integrated special education.
Supported activities aimed at this student were mainly successful and his studies progressed as planned. The student himself had
a positive view of his progress and future occupation. This was contributed by his high motivation, consciousness of aims, good
learning experiences and opportunities of giving demonstrations of his skills.
